MA Community Art Show 2022!!

A look at the very beginning of the art show on opening night (August 5th) as people started to fill up the new space at 213 W Broadway.

The MontiArts Community Art Show 2022 was welcomed with an incredible turnout on Friday (8/5) for opening evening reception.  The new building at 213 W Broadway was enlivened by an incredible exhibit of local art from over 40 local artists. We had a huge turn out with rave reviews and excitement for events of this nature to be happening in Monticello. The guests, artists and residents were very impressed by the quality and variety of the work and by the layout of the show! The way that very different works of art somehow worked together in a cohesive flowing display made MontiArts feel more like itself…more like a creative community  (Special thanks to the many local artists who shared their art and to those who helped prepare the show with us!)

The highlight of the show for many were the connections made. People entered the show as strangers and left with new friends and acquaintances. Many who popped in for a quick look stayed for hours visiting, and left with a new sense of community. Many of the artists, who work in isolation, were thrilled to hear about all of the MontiArts programming intended to bring people together, such as Open Studios on Wednesday nights and Thursday mornings.

The art show ended on August 12th with much of the art lingering in the building for our Open Mic Night the following evening.  If you missed it, don’t be too discouraged as we plan to host many more art shows and are already in process planning the next. See you there.
