April Showers

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to honest-to-goodness spring. There; I did it. I jinxed us into probably getting one more snowstorm. You can all blame me! (This better not actually happen, haha)

The first thing you need to know about is Kara Albrecht’s Art Show opening this Thurs— 4/11. Please come join us in celebrating this very cool local artist from 7 to 9 at our main space.

The other big news concerns the return of our Community Art Show. Get ready because it’s coming this June. Get crackin’, artists! Keep scrolling to get all the details on that and other fun things we have in store for you this month.

Don’t forget about Open Mic this Sat the 13th!

Stay Curious & Creative. - Sue Seeger

Kara Albrecht’s Art Show

We’ve been describing Kara’s work by saying things like “multidisciplinary” and “experimental”, but it really doesn’t begin to cover how varied her work is. Kara is a life-long artist, and it’s really interesting to see how she processes her journey through life and her wide-array of interests through her artistic filter. You will see monstrous 3 dimensional pieces, thought provoking quilts, a jewel box of lovely small mixed-media paintings, and some beautiful fiber art pieces.

If you can’t make the Opening Reception 4/11 from 7 to 9, the show will be up through May and open during our Open Studio times— Tuesdays 9 to 11, and Wednesdays 6 to 9.

Get Busy, Artists; The MontiArts Community Art Show Returns Fri June 14th!!

The application for this show is digital: You need to email sue.montiarts@gmail.com and provide the following:

  • Your Name & Cell / Phone #

  • A Jpeg Of Your Entry

  • The Medium/s Used To Create The Piece

  • The Size

  • Title & Price Or NFS (Not For Sale) (Venmo or other sales link/website if you are selling)

You will receive a reply confirming your acceptance or possibly a request for more info or, on rare occasions, a rejection. This show is intended to be as inclusive as possible. We ask that you avoid controversial subject matter (religion/politics), and bear in mind space is limited. Extremely heavy work could be problematic in our space too.

Please note: your piece must be ready to hang. We do have some fixtures for displaying 3D work, and can accomodate most sculpture and pottery pieces as long as we know the dimensions.

Work can be for sale, but interested parties will have to make arrangements with you, so your contact info will appear on the show label. Our staff doesn’t handle sales at MontiArts.

Please plan to attend the Opening Reception if you are able to. Last time we were able to have this show in 2022 is was an extremely fun night.

If you are not an artist— please put this on your calendar and join the party on Fri 6/14 from 7 to 9 at our Downtown location— 213 W Broadway!

$5 Art Night Social Thurs 4/25

CD Painting!

It’s time to jazz-up our windows for spring, and you can help!

Join us Thurs 4/25 from 6 to 9 (8:00 cut-off) and help paint CD’s to create a groove-tastic curtain backdrop for our windows. We’ll have the shiny/rainbowy/irridescant side facing the street, and paint the label side with whatever creative mayhem strikes us, making the inside side a kaleidoscopic art extravaganza! (This will look amazing during our Community Art Show in June too!)

Remember We Have Open Studio Sessions Every Week!

Every Tues. from 9:00 to 11:00, and Wed. from 6:00 to 9:00 you’re invited to join other area creatives as we gather to work on our own projects. Come make some art and visit with new friends at MontiArts!

Open Mic This Saturday 4/13

Our open mic has become the most welcoming listening and collaborating space in the area. Join us to perform or listen at 7pm in our MA Studios building (213 W Broadway). Contact Ben Lundquist at ben.montiarts@gmail.com with questions.
