Welcome To Cozyville

Hello Everyone!

I hope you’re easing in to the season with optimum comfort. Finally, we can huddle under blankies and wear adult pajamas all day (sometimes referred to humorously as activewear) without being conspicuous. Well, cuddle up in your nest and behold all the cool creative fun headed your way. Get out that calendar and plan ahead to get out and be social with your fellow creative folks.

And please complete the survey. It’s important.

Stay curious and creative this month. - Sue Seeger

This Survey, Right Here

We shared this survey over the summer. About 300 people particilated, which was great. But it would be extra awesome if even more people would help drive the entire direction of our parks and public spaces over the next 10 years or so by weighing in. So you’re getting one more chance.

Full-disclosure, the 300 original participants did not appear to be big arts supporters. We, by no means, want the results of this survey to be skewed. We just want them to accurately represent what people in our community truly want. So if you’d like to be heard, please take the survey by scanning the QR code or clicking on the picture above. It should only take three minutes. Thank you!

Card Making Social 11/16

Mark your calendars; this will be fun.

We’ll gather in our main space at 213 W Broadway on Thursday (11/16) from 6 to 9:00 PM to make cards. Join us to to socialize, have a nice hot beverage, and make cards using our supply of materials, all for a $5 per person donation (bring cash, please).

Feel free to make as many cards as you want during this three-hour session and drop in and out as your schedule allows. Even if you aren’t a holiday card person, most of us know someone who would appreciate a beautiful handmade card, just to let them know you’re thinking of them.

We will also be giving people who attend this a sneak preview of some upcoming classes, so don’t miss out.

Brian Larson Started A Mural!

We were recently awarded a grant from CMAB that will pay for local artist Brian Larson to manage two outdoor murals for us. We began the first one a couple weeks ago on the former Zoo Bar near Hwy 25 and Broadway.

Interns from our High School Art Club and local artist-volunteers helped paint the lower portion of the mural on what seems to have been our very last nice warm day of the season. Look for this space to continue its transformation next spring.

You can see a quick cool video of this fun installation HERE.

Drawing Class Coming! 12/2 & 12/9

This is so exciting! There is a brand new artist in our area who just moved here from Utah , Nikki Molick. Nikki will be leading some drawing classes at MontiArts this December, as well as some colored pencil classes later on. Her work is gorgeous.

The first class will consist of two sessions on Saturdays (2 hours each). The focus will be “Drawing The Human Eye.” The cost of the class is $47 and does not include some required materials.

Those interested should email sue.montiarts@gmail.com with “Drawing Class” in the title to get the materials list, instructions, and a registration link.

The classes will be Saturdays 12/2 & 12/9, from 2 to 4:00 PM. You need to come to both sessions, and there will be a tiny bit of prep work involved.

Space is limited, so sign up right away.

Mosaic Class With Laura Ruprecht 12/16!

Thanks to another CMAB grant, well-known area mosaic artist Laura Ruprecht will be working with us to revive our public mosaic art project downtown. This will be a sprawling effort with multiple components, beginning with a class offered on 12/16 at the MontiArts Garage (349 W Broadway).

During this all-day Sat. class you will learn to work with glass mosaic from a true expert and complete an 8” x 8” glass on glass trivet. The class is from 10 to 4PM, with a group break for lunch and socializing (lunch not included.) The cost of the class is $52, and materials are included.

Space is limited, and we’ve had a lot of requests for mosaic classes, so be sure to reserve your space early by emailing sue.montiarts@gmail.com with “Mosaic Class” in the title.

West Broadway Is Open!

And, not to brag, but we have a sidewalk, guys. “Just like downtown!” as the saying goes. Not 100% sure if this is true, but I’ve been told, much like at that premium ice cream place where you order “mix-ins,” they added in a special awesome-i-fying compound to our stretch of sidewalk, that lets cool vibes seep into the soles of the feet of all who pass in front of our headquarters. Try it out!

And behold all the parking and shiny new asphalt!!! Fancy!
